  1. Upcoming Accessible Transportation Standard comes into force

    The Accessible Transportation Standard Regulation (Man. Reg. 151/2023) is scheduled to come into force on January 1, 2027. It is the fourth accessibility standard made under the Act.

  1. Website requirement now applies to every organization with one employee or more

    The Accessible Information and Communication Standard now applies to any organization subject to the Act with one or more employees in Manitoba (Man. Reg. 47/2022, s. 2(c) (opens in a new tab)). Web content must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA under s. 7(1) (opens in a new tab).

  1. Information and communication standard reaches the public sector

    The standard begins to apply to government agencies, health authorities, the City of Winnipeg and listed cities, educational institutions and libraries (Man. Reg. 47/2022, s. 2(b) (opens in a new tab)).

  1. W3C publishes WCAG 2.2

    The World Wide Web Consortium publishes WCAG 2.2, which builds on and is backwards compatible with WCAG 2.1. Manitoba’s regulation continues to reference WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

  2. Information and communication standard applies to government departments

    Manitoba government departments become the first organizations required to meet the Accessible Information and Communication Standard (Man. Reg. 47/2022, s. 2(a) (opens in a new tab)).

  1. Accessible Information and Communication Standard comes into force

    The regulation, registered April 22, 2022, comes into force (Man. Reg. 47/2022, s. 15 (opens in a new tab)), starting a three-year phase-in. The same day, the Accessible Employment Standard begins to apply to all employers with one or more employees in Manitoba (Man. Reg. 70/2019, s. 2(1)(c) (opens in a new tab)).

  1. Employment standard applies to the public sector
